Woodlawn Walkers Set 4K Goal For Season
The Woodlawn Walkers program will begin on Wednesday, May 3 and run until October 25.
A two-mile walk around the interior perimeter of the cemetery is held each Wednesday starting at 9:00 a.m.
Starting season seven having walked over 3,000 miles thus far the group is setting a goal to reach the 4,000-mile mark.
The Woodlawn Walkers log hundreds of miles on the beautiful grounds, enjoying wildlife, flora and plenty of Toledo history along the way. A “Tree of the Week” is highlighted engaging walkers with facts and folklore about the arboretums collection they pass by along the way.

Adelante Announces Third Annual 5K Run
Adelante, the Latino Resource Center, will host the third annual 5K run and 1-mile fun walk on Saturday, May 6. All monies raised from the Un Paso Adelante 5K and 1-mile fun walk will support the Early Literacy Program as well as ongoing programs and social services at Adelante that focus on nutrition and health.
The 5K and walk will begin at Walbridge Park in Toledo. Rain or shine, registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a race start time at 10:00 a.m. The tax-deductible registration fee for the 5K is $25.00 and $15.00 for the 1-mile fun walk. As an incentive, the first 50 people to sign up will receive an exclusive Adelante race T-shirt.

Generals 5K Run/Walk Set In Whitehouse
The Generals 5K Run/Walk, kids fun run and health expo will be held on Saturday, May 13 at the Anthony Wayne main campus.
To register for the race visit www.runsignup.com. Early registration is $20.00 and includes a T-shirt, race day registration is $25.00 with limited T-shirt availability. Registration is at 8:00 a.m. followed by the race at 8:30 a.m. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers.
A free 400-meter kids fun run for K-4th grade students will take place at 8:00 a.m. on the track. No registration is required.
The free health expo will feature local vendors, give aways and drawings from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Nami Walk Planned At UT Health Ed Center
The National Alliance on Mental Illness-Nami Walk for awareness of those affected by mental illness, which includes Depression, ADHD, and other brain disorders to help erase the stigma of mental illness will be held on Saturday, May 13 at the University of Toledo Health Education Center.
Walker check in is at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins at 10:00 a.m. Free Pizza from Vito’s Pizza for all participants, a kids area, pet area, educational booths from local businesses and Mental Health Agencies will all be on hand to educate and answer questions.

Bark In The Park Benefits Humane Society
The 32nd annual Bark in the Park for the Toledo Area Humane Society will be held on Saturday, May 20 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
This pet-friendly walk is a great way to get family and friends outside for a fun afternoon at the TAHS in Maumee. There will be games for kids and pups alike, great food, live entertainment and a 1.25-mile walk where you can show off your pups while they strut their stuff.
All funds raised at the Bark in the Park go directly to caring for the nearly 4,000 animals that come to the shelter every year. Registration is open; visit www.toledohumane.org.
Dart Frog Dash Planned At Zoo In May
The Medical Mutual Dart Frog Dash at the Toledo Zoo will take place on Saturday, May 20.
A 5K race/walk, open to all ages, begins at 8:30 a.m. with a Kids’ Fun Run, open to children ages 0-12, at 9:45 a.m. Both race routes begin and end on the historic side of the zoo.
Those registered by Sunday, May 14 will receive a Medical Mutual Dart Frog Dash T-shirt and pay registration prices of $26.00 for the 5K walk/run and $10.00 for the kids’ run.
As of Tuesday, May 16, the prices will be $28.00 for the 5K walk/run and $10.00 for the kids’ run; T-shirt is not guaranteed.
Participants may register on the day of the race beginning at 7:00 a.m. at the cost of $30.00 for the 5K walk/run and $9.00 for the kids’ run; however, no T-shirts will be available.
Registered participants may pick up their race packets at the Sylvania location of Dave’s Running on Wednesday, May 17 and Thursday, May 18 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. or on the day of the race beginning at 7:00 a.m.

Race participants and their cheering sections that are inside the zoo’s main gates before 10:00 a.m. are welcome to enjoy the zoo for the remainder of the day, free of charge.
Bicycle Across Missouri In June
Missouri Life magazine is gearing up for the third annual Big BAM (Bicycle Across Missouri). Modeled after Iowa’s RAGBRAI, an event that attracts about 15,000 riders to Iowa annually, Big BAM is Missouri’s border-to-border bicycle and music festival that incorporates live music and other entertainment in communities across the Show-Me State. Riders will travel 330 miles across Missouri for six days, June 11-16.
Each overnight community will host live music, a booth exhibit area featuring local vendors, and food and beer tents. Many communities in-between the overnight stops will be hosting festivals and events to welcome the riders into their communities. Concerts are free and open to the public.

Race For The Cure Early Registration Opens
Registration is open for the Susan G. Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure 5K Walk and Run events in Findlay and Toledo.
The Komen Northwest Ohio Race for the Cure events will be held on Saturday, September 23, at the Blanchard Valley Hospital Campus in Findlay and on Sunday, September 24, in downtown Toledo.
