Walking Tours Planned In Waterville
Waterville Historical Society will offer a guided walking tour of the historic downtown area of Waterville on Saturday, April 29 at 9:00 a.m. at the Robbins House Museum, 114 S. River Rd.
It will focus on Waterville as a river town prior to the opening of the canal in 1843 and include sites and stories along River Road, Second Street, Farnsworth Road and South Street.
In about an hour walkers should be back at the starting point in time to visit the 1838 Robbins House and the circa 1834 Sargent House Museums which will be open from 9:00 a.m. to noon. Information will be provided by Waterville Historical Society docents. A new display of memorabilia from the old Waterville School is in the Robbins House.
The Archival Center located upstairs at Wakeman Hall, 401 Farnsworth Rd., will be open the same day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. It contains a great deal of information about the Waterville area and its families. It is also open the same hours every Wednesday.
HSSHS To Meet in Holland First Thursday In May
The Holland Springfield Spencer Historical Society (HSSHS) meeting will be held on Thursday, May 4 at 6:30 p.m., at the Community Building on Clarion Street.
Due to closing of Clarion Road, attendees have to enter off Angola Road by way of the Post Office Building to get to the parking lot. The discussion this month is “where are we going as a group?”
Monclova Community Center Announces 2017 Events
The Monclova Community Center, 8115 Monclova Rd., Monclova, will host a variety of events throughout 2017.
The 5th Trivia Night will take place on Friday, May 12. Start assembling your teams of six or less. Admission is $10.00 per person. Snacks will be provided for free, or attendees can order PizzAroma Pizza. The event is for adults 21 and over, and it is BYOB. There will be a 50/50 raffle, door prizes and cash prizes for the winning team. The event will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.

Other special events include “Mom-to-Mom sale” on Sunday, August 6; “Employee Recognition Event” on Wednesday, August 9; “Reverse Raffle” on Friday, September 15 and “Monclova Market Days,” coming late summer/early fall 2017.

Full Slate Of Workships Set At Fort Meigs In 2017
Fort Meigs has a full slate of classes and workshops planned for 2017.
Learn how floor cloths brightened up a room in the early 19th century and make one for your own home in similar fashion in the Level 2 Floor Cloth Workshops hosted on Saturday and Sunday, July 15-16. Or make your own hand-dipped beeswax candles in Fort Meigs’ newest workshop, Candle Making Class, to be held on September 30.
Additional workshops include the Fiber Arts Spinning Class held on Saturday, April 29; and the Block Printing Workshop on November 18-19. Preregistration is required for all classes and some have a required minimum number of participants. Toledo Area Genealogical Society Sets Meetings
The Toledo Area Genealogical Society (TAGS) meets from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. the second Monday of the month from September to June.
