Freak out!

It’s all the rage at Terrortown, the area’s longest running haunt that has opened for another bloodcurdling season.

This year’s new draw promises to bury you alive.

The Cave, Terrortown’s latest fear-based attraction, will thrill those who seek a rush with the feeling of being buried alive.

“About seven people sit in a small space, and it’s over in a matter of seconds,” owner Mark Roberts explained.

He has created the eerie Terrortown experience for the past 11 years.

College Football Is Back!

ice

College football is back and if you believe the hype, this is going to be the most exciting year ever. Of course, we say that every year, but after eight long months without cheering on our favorite teams we’re going a little stir crazy.

The Buckeyes and the Wolverines both lost some key players to the NFL draft but schools of that caliber simply reload. The Rockets and the Falcons both had off years last season and look to right the ship in 2007. The Rockets hope to put last year’s scandal behind them while the Falcons have new facilities and FieldTurf to keep them motivated.

Download this month's issue of Playlist to check out our college football previews for the Toledo Rockets, Ohio State Buckeyes, Bowling Green Falcons and Michigan Wolverines.

Black Swamp Customs

This custom-made Bobber sells for $20,000. The hand-built Softail-style bike is the work of Todd Roberts, owner of Black Swamp Customs and creator of the Black Swamp Chopper.

Nothing says, “Get your motor runnin’” like the feeling of rushing wind and the freedom of riding two wheels down a lone road.

Resurrected from the ultra cool days of Easy Rider, today’s motorhead may be more mainstream than legendary ’60s rebel icons Dennis Hopper and Peter Fonda, but they love the feel of headin’ down the highway just as well.

Since 2003, there has been a surge in the number of motorcycles purchased.

Nothing says, “Get your motor runnin’” like the feeling of rushing wind and the freedom of riding two wheels down a lone road.

The Motorcycle Industry Council estimates that annual sales have increased 20 percent in the past three years.

The estimated translation is 8.8 million motorcycles in use in the U.S.

Today’s bikers could be called the modern-day cowboy, but instead of a lonely desperado out riding fences, they’re conventional men and women and their appetite for the liberating joyride is growing.

According to the Motorcycle Industry Council, more women are hopping on their bikes, as the proportion of motorcycles owned by women reached 10 percent in 2006, up from 6 percent in 1990.

More than half are married and many have college degrees to go along with their white-collar jobs.

All Aboard The Pub Crawl

Heading out to tip back a few with friends is always a good time, but the tricky part in this area is getting from place to place without injury to life and limb or landing a DUI.

Fortunately, the “pub crawl” shuttle service has hit the road to offer designated driver service.

For extra safety and a small fee, the shuttle will  pick up patrons and drop them off at home.

“It costs a small amount to pick them up and take them home, but then it’s free to shuttle around place to place in Maumee on Friday and Saturday nights,” explained Brian Clement, owner of the business.

At no cost to those happy at happy hour, barflies can travel from place to place courtesy of the pub crawl bus, which gladly picks up patrons and drops them off wherever they want to go in the Maumee/South Toledo area.

In Like A Lion, Out Like A Lamb

March is finally here and quite frankly, everybody here at Playlist couldn't be happier because that means spring is right around the corner. All this snow, ice and cold had us all a bit on edge. We figure it will be another two weeks before we kiss the winter blues good-bye but until then we can occupy ourselves with college basketball and March Madness. This month's Playlist has two ways to approach Bracketology, the conventional way and the less conventional way. We've tried both and we still get knocked out in the first round. Hopefully you'll have better luck.

Also in this month's issue is an interview with Cetan Clawson, an up and coming blues guitarist and front man of the Cetan Clawson Revolution. Read the interview here or download a copy of the entire issue here.
