Free Dental Services Available For Children
Owens Community College will host Give Kids a Smile Day on Friday, February 3, offering free dental services for children ages 6 months to 18 years from low-income families. Free cleanings, screening, X-rays, limited restorations and dental sealants will be offered from 8:00 a.m. to noon and 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in the dental hygiene clinic in Health Technologies Hall.
Additionally, Toledo Dental Society dentists and Expanded Functions Dental Auxiliary will provide restorative treatments such as fillings and extractions for patients on Friday, February 17.

Ecumenical Bereavement Support Group To Meet
An Ecumenical Bereavement Support Group meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 7 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns Parish Emmaus Room, 4201 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo. The program is titled “Surviving Valentine’s Day with a Broken Heart.”
Speaker Susie Waible-Rose of the bereavement ministry team at St. Rose Parish will discuss how to address the challenges and stress of observing special days, especially in the first year after losing someone we care about.

Supportive Spouses Grief Group Offered
Supportive Spouses, a five-session bereavement group for men and women adjusting to life without their mates, will be held at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Perrysburg Center on Thursdays, February 9 through March 8 from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.
The group is free and open to anyone in the community who has lost a mate, whether or not they have a previous experience with Hospice of Northwest Ohio.

Yoga, Self Defense Classes Scheduled
The Healing Arts Institute, 340 Three Meadows Dr., Perrysburg, will offer yoga with Mike Zerner on Wednesdays through February 15 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. The cost is $12.00 per session.

Funky Beatz Offered At Wayne Trail
Funky Beatz fitness classes will be offered at Wayne Trail Elementary School in Maumee for two eight-week sessions on Thursdays: the current session runs through March 1, and the next session is March 15 through May 3. Caregiver Classes Offered In Sylvania & Toledo
Kingston Residence of Sylvania will offer Caring for the Caregiver, a free, four-week series designed to help those who are caring for the needs of a friend or family member. Sponsored in conjunction with the Area Office on Aging and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, the session will take place Thursdays, March 1 through March 22 from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. To register, call (419) 824-4200.

Holistic Fair Planned At Common Space
A Holistic Fair sponsored by Linda Dix will be held on Saturday, March 17 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Common Space Auditorium 1700 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo.
The event will feature massage therapists, reflexology, alternative therapies, psychic readers, vendors, guest lecturers, and one of a kind items for sale.
The cost is $3.00 to attend with readers charging $15.00 for 15 minutes and vendors charging their own fee for services. Guest lectures are donation only.
Divorced & Separated Group Meetings Set

Hospice Of Northwest Ohio Offers Grief Group
Hospice of Northwest Ohio provides free ongoing grief support for those who have experienced the death of a spouse or partner during the mid-life years. The group is held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Toledo Hospice Center.
Conducted by Hospice bereavement counselors, the group helps adults learn ways to adapt to this unexpected life change, set realistic expectations and gain support and understanding in their grief.

Alzheimer’s Association Offers Free Helpline
The Alzheimer’s Association, Northwest Ohio chapter, operates a free helpline 24 hours a day, seven days a week in 140 languages. Staff is available to help with questions about Alzheimer’s disease or memory loss, medications and treatment options, brain health and care options, caregiving tips and respite care options, services available in the community and/or referrals. Free Alzheimer’s Care Consultation Available
Consultation is a free service offered by the Alzheimer’s Association to individuals affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related memory loss disorder. One-on-one meetings to discuss individualized needs can take place in a person’s home, in a neutral setting or at the Alzheimer’s Association office. An Alzheimer’s Association staff member can provide education, discuss options for the future, assist families in defining goals and provide information on available community resources.

“For Men Only” Alzheimer’s Program Announced
“For Men Only,” a program for men who are caring for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia, meets at the Alzheimer’s Association office at 2500 N. Reynolds Rd., Toledo. The program takes place on the first Thursday of each month from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Topics include communication, challenging behaviors and progression of the disease. Low Vision Support Group Meets Monthly
The Maumee Senior Center hosts a low vision support group the first Tuesday of each month from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at 2430 S. Detroit Ave., Maumee.
The purpose of the low vision support group is to maximize the independence of those with low vision through education and support. Low vision includes any visual impairment not corrected by standard eyeglasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery that interferes with the ability to perform everyday activities. Exercise Program Offered For Alzheimer’s Patients
The Alzheimer’s Association offers the Reducing Disability in Alzheimer’s Disease, or RDAD program, to help individuals with memory problems as well as their family members who are caring for them.
A trained professional will come to the home for 15 one-hour sessions to teach exercises to help improve strength and balance. Professionals will also teach family members how to assist their relative with these exercises. Family members will also be asked to keep a record of their relatives’ exercise progress and to complete three brief surveys. All information will be kept confidential.

Hospice Hosts Grief Support Group For Children
The Kids Grief Support Group, an interactive grief support group for children, meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Hospice of Northwest Ohio’s Toledo Center. Using art, music, storytelling, discussion and play, groups are available for children ages 5-11 and 12-16. A parent or guardian must stay at the Hospice Center while the child is attending the support group. Adult Grief Group Meets At Toledo Hospice Center
Hospice of Northwest Ohio offers an ongoing, interactive grief support group for adults who are adjusting to the loss of any loved one. The group meets 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. on the first and third Tuesday of each month at the Toledo Hospice Center.

Alzheimer’s Association Offers Support Groups
