“Bad Astronomy” Offered At Lourdes Planetarium

The Appold Planetarium at Lourdes University will present “Bad Astronomy: Myths and Misconceptions,” a show that debunks and tackles pseudoscience head-on, based on the popular book and website of the same name.
Shows will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Saturdays, January 28, February 11 and February 25. A video preview of the show can be found at www.lourdes.edu/planetarium.

Notre Dame Junior Academy Plans Info Sessions

Notre Dame Junior Academy will host parent information sessions on Tuesday, January 31 and Saturday, February 4 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m.
Parents of prospective students at the all-girls seventh- and eighth-grade academy are invited to learn about how the school can play a role in college and career readiness.
In addition, prospective seventh-graders are invited to shadow a current student on Tuesday, January 31 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Limited space is available and students must register prior to shadowing by calling (419) 475-9359, ext. 3126. The junior academy placement test will be given on Saturday, February 4 at 9:00 a.m.

Maumee Library Hosts Climate Change Discussion

The University of Toledo and the Toledo-Lucas County Public Library present “Climate Change: What It Means for You and the World We Live In.” The presentation is the Quantum Leap series, which is designed to pique curiosity and give a glimpse of what academic research is all about.

The presentation will take place Tuesday, February 21 from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Maumee Branch Library. Speakers will discuss climate change, whether it is real, its effect on plant growth and nutrition, and modeling climate and climate change.


Free GED Classes Offered At Penta Career Center

Penta Career Center will offer free GED classes in Toledo, Maumee, Perrysburg and Bowling Green in morning, afternoon and evening sessions. Instruction is individualized and set at each student’s pace. To register or for further information, call (419) 661-6555.

English Literacy And Civics Classes Available

Free classes are available for adults from other countries who want to learn English, study for U.S. citizenship, improve conversational skills and learn about their community. Classes meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. Call Washington Local Schools at (419) 473-2364 for information.
