Sandusky, Toledo and Maumee Public Hearings
To Be Held On Proposed FirstEnergy Rate Increase

What: Public hearings will be held by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) to give residential consumers the opportunity to voice their opinions on an electric security plan filed by FirstEnergy. The plan, when combined with a separately proposed distribution rate increase by the utility, would raise residential customers’ total electric bill by at least 12 percent over three years with additional cost increases yet to be determined.

Who: The PUCO will hold the local public hearings. The Office of the Ohio Consumers’ Counsel (OCC) will attend the hearings to provide customers with information and will be available for media interviews. The OCC represents the interests of residential consumers and encourages FirstEnergy customers to attend. The OCC believes that a number of issues in FirstEnergy’s proposal are not in the best interests of customers.
