David W. Hilborn, or Mr. Hilborn, as he was known to so many children, teachers and staff of Waterville Primary School, passed away on Wednesday, March 22 at the age of 72.
Born in Kirtland, Ohio to Howard and Dorothy Hilborn, he attended Hiram College and received a master’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University. After teaching for several years, Mr. Hilborn accepted the position of principal in 1972 at Waterville Primary School, which he held until his retirement in 1996. He continued his service with the Anthony Wayne Local Schools in multiple roles until 2006.
Mr. Hilborn is remembered by his wife, Jamie; brother, Roger (Vernelle); children, Matthew (Lisa), Catherine (Jon) and Robert (Jill); grandson, Evan; and Evan’s, mother, Julie. He will also be forever remembered by his in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Friends and family will be received from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 1 at Maumee United Methodist Church, with services to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Anthony Wayne Education Foundation, P.O. Box 294, Waterville, OH 43566.
On the morning of March 23, Kim Kohl received her angel wings.
She was 58 years old, born on November 15, 1958 to Duane and Patricia (Blazey) Ziolkowski, Sr. She was raised in Maumee, attended St. Patrick of Heatherdowns School and graduated from Maumee High School. She moved to Perrysburg when she married Jeff Kohl on June 21, 1986. She went on to court reporting school and became a well-known court reporter in Lucas County Common Pleas Court. Kim loved her friends, and her friends loved her equally in return. She was an avid animal lover and enjoyed gardening outdoors. She was especially talented at decorating and do-it-yourself projects.
She is survived by her husband, Jeff Kohl; children, Kristin and Brian Kohl; mother, Pat (Blazey) Ziolkowski; brother, Duane (Cindy) Ziolkowski; sister, Lori (Rich Aldrich) MacRitchie; in-laws, Mary Ann and Robert Kohl and Debbie and Bruce Bouts; nieces and nephews, Megan and Derek Ziolkowski, Andrea and Darrah MacRitchie and Alexa and Keith Bouts. She was preceded in death by her father, Duane Ziolkowski, Sr.
Friends will be received from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 30 at Witzler Shank Funeral Home in Perrysburg. Visitation will continue on Friday, March 31 from 9:30 until 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns, with a memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to Project iAm, 3818 Frampton, Toledo, OH 43614.
Richard F. Lepper, age 87, of Maumee, passed away on Thursday, March 23.
Born in Toledo on August 23, 1929 to Horace and Pearl (Middleton) Lepper, he joined the armed forces when he was 18, serving in the U.S. Merchant Marines, Navy, Air Force and Air National Guard. Mr. Lepper was employed as an electronics repair engineer with the Unisys Corporation, retiring in 1989. He also served on the Maumee Fire Division for 31 years. He loved spending time with his granddaughter, AliciaKae, building lasers and robots, electronics and woodworking.
Mr. Lepper is survived by his daughters, Denise Honsberger and Tina McDonald; grandchildren, AliciaKae Honsberger, Dawn Goretzki, Carrie Barnhill, Aaron McDonald and Adam McDonald; and brothers, Wes (Laurie) Lepper and Al (Betty Lou) Lepper. In addition to his parents and sister, he was preceded in death by his children, Sandra and Bruce.
The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Kenneth L. Jones, age 67, of Neapolis, passed away on Sunday, March 26 in Perrysburg.
Mr. Jones was born on August 7, 1949 in Berry, Ala., to the late John and Rose (Hyde) Jones. He worked for more than 43 years at Johns Manville. He married Belinda Fuerst on September 19, 1975 in Toledo, and she survives in Neapolis.
Along with his wife, Mr. Jones is survived by his sons, Corey, Tyler and Larry; granddaughter, Willow; brothers, Paul, Tom, Lonnie and John; and a host of loving nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bill.
Visitation was on March 29 in the Wright-Hanneman Funeral Home in Liberty Center. A private family burial will take place at a later date. Memorial contributions may be gifted to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd., Perrysburg, OH 43551.
